Last year, when 22-year-old Timber Eaton started feeling sick after spring break, she never dreamed she'd soon be fighting for her life.

A day after returning home from spending spring break in Mexico, I woke up with a sore throat and felt really tired. I went to my morning class (I'm enrolled at Oklahoma State University) anyway, but within an hour, I started shivering and my legs were shaky, so I went to my boyfriend's house. As the day wore on, my head began to throb and my body got so stiff, it hurt to walk. Then I started vomiting, plus I got diarrhea.
