Apr. 13--THE COUNTDOWN IS ON: This is it -- the final weekend of tax-filing season is about to begin.
The deadline for filing federal, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut individual income-tax returns is midnight on Tuesday.
If you haven't completed your returns yet, FOLLOWING ARE SOME RESOURCES:
--Federal Returns: The Internal Revenue Service offices in Rhode Island -- at 380 Westminster St., Providence, and 60 Quaker Lane, Warwick -- are closed this weekend, but will be open an extra hour on Monday and Tuesday.
Both will have office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, said IRS spokeswoman Peggy Riley. (The Warwick office closes for lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. each day.)
The offices have forms, instructions and booklets available, and staff to answer your tax-related questions, Riley said.
--If you have last-minute questions, you can call the IRS customer service line toll-free at 1-800-829-1040. The line will be staffed today from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
