Apr. 14--Eustace Clovell, one of the original Jamestown settlers, is known mostly for his dramatic death. A fellow settler's journal says Clovell was shot full of arrows by Indians just outside the fort less than a month after arriving. He died eight days later. So much for a man described only as a gentleman on John Smith's famous list of the original settlers. But that wasn't enough information for Catherine Correll-Walls. She has spent years assembling a database of everything she can find about the lives of Clovell and 1,490 other people who lived in or around Jamestown from its founding in 1607 until 1624.
