A color film recorder developed by Polaroid Corp. is designed to transfer digital images to film while supporting a resolution of 4,000 lines per slide with as many as 16.7 million colors.

The HR 6000 Digital Palette is compatible with PCs and Macintosh systems, the company said, and supports a variety of film types, including 35mm slides, prints, and chromes.

The film recorder is designed to offer users plug-and-play capability by connecting to the system through the serial or SCSI port on a PC and the SCSI port on a Mac instead of using an add-in card.
