Apr. 10--MIDLAND -- From the Middle East to London to New York, the investment world is talking about Dow Chemical Co. And when people talk about Dow Chemical, they are talking about this city of 41,700 people. So when speculation surfaced again Monday about a potential buyout of the company, so did nervousness among many residents. They worry that Dow Chemical, responsible for the livelihoods of so many and counted on for future jobs, could be the latest target in a buying spree by private investors. London's Sunday Express reports that Middle Eastern investors have put a package together with U. S. buyout firm Kohlberg Kravis that could exceed $50 billion.
