City immigration lawyers were in a mad dash to the post office Friday to ensure that their clients' applications for H-1B visas arrive at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services by today. The visas allow skilled, college-educated foreigners to work in the United States for up to six years. Demand typically outstrips supply. The CIS grants 65,000 annually. Last year, all the slots were gone by May. The American Immigration Lawyers Association expects the cap to be reached this week.
