Time flies when you're having fun, and one thing AMG has tons of is fun. It's hard to believe AMG is 40 years old.
The A and the M in the name stand for the founders Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, while the G comes from Aufrecht's hometown of Grossaspach. Forty years ago, Aufrecht and Melcher took over an old mill as headquarters and started a racing and tuner company. Their little enterprise has grown into what is now a 750-employee supplier of high-performance automobiles.
