Sprint Nextel, the third-largest mobile provider in the US, has hired Goodby, Silverstein & Partners to handle its dollars 1.2 billion assignment.

The appointment comes as major mobile companies struggle to differentiate their offerings in a market which is close to saturation point.

There are currently 230 million subscribers across the US, and it is thought that about two-thirds of Americans likely to acquire a mobile phone already have one. ...
