Evergreen Technologies Inc. has begun marketing a wide array of clock-tripled 486 upgrade processors, beating rival Cyrix Corp. to market.
Evergreen's newest offering is a clock-tripled 16/48 IBM Blue Lightning processor, designed to let users of the IBM Model 55SX with a 26-MHz 386 processor upgrade to a 486-class processor.
To date, upgrading IBM Model 55SXs has been difficult, because more than half of all models shipped with older chip designs that make it difficult to swap in a new processor, the company said.
