Jason Dunford became the first Kenyan in history to achieve Olympic qualifying time in swimming. Donovan, who captained the Kenya team in the Africa championships in Senegal where Kenya won seven gold medals, clocked 50.28 seconds in the 100 meters freestyle during the 4 x 100 metres relay race at the ongoing world swimming championships in Melbourne, Australia.

Kenya finished 20th out of 28 countries in the relay but Jason had done enough to earn his place in the history books by booking his ticket to the Beijing Olympic games next year. The Olympics qualifying time is 50.95 seconds.
