Mar. 31--The tornado that smashed into the small town of Holly on Wednesday night developed so fast that National Weather Service forecasters didn't have time to give the community advance warning, according to the senior meteorologist at the Pueblo office of the weather service.

Bill Fortune, the meteorologist in charge at the Pueblo station, said forecasters were in the process of writing a tornado warning when they received a call from Prowers County just before 8 p.m. Wednesday that a tornado had been spotted a mile to the south of Holly.
