World Bank to Give $800 Million in Loans.

The World Bank has announced a major new commitment to fighting corruption and poverty in Kenya.

As much as $800 million (Sh55.2 billion) in new loans could be made available over the next year alone as a result of changes in the bank's aid strategy for Kenya.

The country is the first in the world to benefit from the bank's revised approach to promoting good governance.

The bank's expanded support for Kenya reflects satisfaction with the Government's moves to spur economic growth.

The announcement was made on Tuesday.
