CSX Intermodal has gained direct entry into metropolitan New York as part of its "Northeast Strategy."
The company has signed contracts with Norfolk Southern and New York, Susquehanna & Western for rail shipment of intermodal cargo from Chicago to CSXI's terminal at Little Ferry, N.J., across the Hudson River from Manhattan.
Until now, CSXI has served the New York market by draying containers and trailers from Philadelphia.
