Home health services expect more business and competition. (Health Care Monthly)

As pressure from managed care companies to cut costs continues, home health service agencies and hospitals that have added these services expect business to grow.

Competition for insurance dollars earmarked for home health care is likely to increase as agencies seek referrals from physicians to replace referrals that used to come from hospitals.

"What all home health providers will have to do is learn to deliver what managed care wants: Quality service for the least cost," said Barbara A. Dorinski. She is a registered nurse who is vice president of operations for Home Health Corporation of America's South Florida office in Pompano Beach.
