Mar. 27--TAMPA -- Col. Robert Thomas assumed command of MacDill Air Force Base and the 6th Air Mobility Wing on Monday, pledging to uphold the high standards set by his predecessor, Col. Margaret Woodward, who departs to lead the unit responsible for providing the president's air travel.
Thomas, 44, comes to Tampa from Travis Air Force Base in California, where he was commander of the 572nd Contingency Response Group, a unit that rapidly establishes air bases in combat areas.
