Mar. 26--The world's great cities have landmark thoroughfares. Think Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the Champs-Elysees in Paris, Barcelona's Las Ramblas.
They're places to walk, shop, mingle, eat and drink. Far more than ribbons of asphalt, they embody the spirit of those cities.
In Atlanta, there's Peachtree. Locals are justifiably proud of the road -- after all, it's home to gleaming skyscrapers, trendy shops, theaters, museums and concert halls.
It's where Margaret Mitchell wrote her famous book, and it's where tens of thousands gather each July 4 for a certain little road race.
