Mar. 21--PARKLAND -- A Parkland 10th-grader is facing a felony charge after setting off an acid bomb in a crowded high school courtyard shortly before classes started Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

The explosion at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School caused a loud popping sound and filled the air with acrid white smoke, sending the school at 5901 Pine Island Road into immediate lockdown at about 7:30 a.m. No one was seriously injured, but nine students were treated at the scene for skin irritation to their arms and legs, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Jachles.
