The British Library has painted a dire picture of its future if proposed budget cuts of up to 7% go ahead.

According to the BL, cuts of the magnitude planned by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) are likely to lead to charges for access to reading rooms and the closure of galleries as well as leaving the library unable to fulfill its obligation for the legal deposit of electronic material.
