ProQuest clears up missing links
Kim Thomas
Database aggregation company ProQuest Information and Learning has launched a search tool that will link users to the full text of electronic content in a library's collection, whether that content is from ProQuest or another publisher.
To use the tool, called One Click, users enter a search term in any database on the ProQuest platform. One Click will then search all the electronic database content in the library's collection. The results screen will include links that users can click on to access the full text.
John Law, director of strategic alliances and platform management at ProQuest, said that users encountered real difficulties in gaining access to full text when searching from research databases across multiple publishers.
Because link resolvers typically offer links for all search records, clicking on a link won't take users anywhere if their library doesn't stock the publication the link refers to.
