Readers desert Cilip 'gold standard'
' analysis
IWR's annual reader survey has revealed that just 27% of respondents are chartered members of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (Cilip).
The significance of this figure could prove worrying for the institute as Cilip considers its chartered membership to be a "gold standard" for the library and information profession, especially as it is a means of independently measuring key skills and knowledge for the industry.
Speaking to IWR in the wake of the survey findings, Marion Huckle, head of qualifications and professional development at Cilip, said: "Being a chartered member of Cilip has never been more important in the current climate of job cutbacks and re-evaluations."
