Mar. 18--Close to 200 people raised concerns last week that two major developments -- including a proposed 1,500-home subdivision -- would overcrowd schools and worsen traffic in the Sherrills Ford area.

Crescent Resources, a real-estate development and land-management company in Charlotte, plans to build a "village center" with up to 577,000 square feet of retail and office space and up to 350 homes. It's planned for the intersection of Slanting Bridge Road and N.C. 150. MAG Land Development wants to build up to 1,500 homes in a 700-acre subdivision called Key Harbor, off Island Point, Raccoon Track and Azalea roads. Residents…
