Eskom growth 'ends cheap power' Trade and Industry Correspondent ESKOM will bump up its capital expenditure to generate additional capacity to a massive R150bn over the next five years, which could see the cost of generating and distributing electricity rise as much as 34%. This is up 35% on the R97bn projected five-year expenditure to upgrade SA's power supply infrastructure announced only last year.
The latest figure emerged from a briefing note to Eskom executives on the plan, which has already been approved by Eskom's board.
