Following last month's focus on the new governor of Miyazaki, this time we stay on the same subject so that students can see how vocabulary and topics carry over from one story to another. Students using the article for the first time will be able to use their knowledge of the topic from Japanese news to better understand the content of the story. Once again there are two vocabulary activities, with a further two activities on grammar points and a choice of three Language Transfer activities.

Rough start for new Miyazaki governor

Despite his active media campaign to promote Miyazaki Prefecture, Gov. Hideo Higashikokubaru has made some eyebrow-raising statements about policies, causing growing concern among observers. (1)
