Village Oaks Elementary to close: Board grapples with unpopular decision to shut school.

Mar. 15--STOCKTON -- The future of Village Oaks Elementary School remained uncertain late Wednesday night as school board trustees considered an administrative recommendation to close it.
Trustees had not taken a vote on the issue late Wednesday.
"The reality is that if we put off doing something significant like this this year, the problem becomes more difficult next year," Lincoln Unified Superintendent Steven Lowder said. "That's the harsh reality of all this. It's not a preference; it's not something we would like to do."
