In search of foreign riches: investment banks try capitalism in China.

Two prominent members of San Francisco's financial community have made the long journey from Wall Street to the Great Wall in hopes of bringing U.S.-style investment banking to China.

Calvin Grigsby, president and CEO of Grigsby Brandford & Co., and Sandy Robertson, partner of Robertson Stephens & Co., last week were part of a Presidential Business Development Mission organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The group traveled to three economic centers in China -- Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou -- as well as Hong Kong.
