LIGHTER LAMBORGHINI; Trim Gallardo Superleggera weighs in at Geneva.(News)

Lamborghini has shaved weight and boosted power to create a special version of its 5.0-liter V10-powered Gallardo. Called the Superleggera, the lightweight version of the two-seater debuts at the Geneva motor show.
Lamborghini officials say the car will be built in lower numbers than the standard Gallardo but did not specify a production number. The company was to begin taking orders as soon as the car was unveiled on March 7, but delivery dates are still up in the air. Pricing also isn't clear, though Lambo says the Superleggera will slot in above the $195,000 Gallardo Spyder.
Among the Superleggera's weight-saving measures are a series of lightweight carbon fiber elements, including new engine cover surround, rear diffuser, underbody paneling, exterior mirror housings and transmission tunnel covering.
