Youth league gets its way in Eastern Cape AMY MUSGRAVE THE African National Congress (ANC) made an about-turn on Friday, upholding the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) decision to disband its Eastern Cape provincial executive committee.

The ANCYL national executive disbanded the committee following rumours that it favoured President Thabo Mbeki assuming presidency of the ANC for a third term. The league's national executive has openly opposed the notion of two centres of power, and has hinted at a preference for a Jacob Zuma presidency.
