Only senior officers allowed to lead raids, says Home Affairs Ministry.

ALOR STAR: Only senior district or state Rela officers are authorised to organise raids or checks on illegal foreign workers.

Home Affairs Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datuk Paduka Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said low-ranking Rela members have no authority to organise such operations and they can be punished if they are found doing so.

He was commenting on the arrest of eight Rela members who raided a factory in Jenjarom, Selangor last Friday.

"If the raid in Selangor was carried out by ordinary Rela members, then the police were right in arresting the personnel," Abdul Rahman said after launching the …
