Iloilo City - Global Business Power Corp., a member of the Metrobank Group of Companies, is planning to put up a 100-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Barotac Viejo town in Iloilo, about 60 kilometers from the city.
Global Power Executive Vice- President Arman V. Lapus told Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas that construction would start in 2008 assuming that all the clearances and permits would be secured.
Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada, Jr. said the proposed plant is estimated to cost $130 million.
