The array of available artifacts from the early days of the space program can be surprising. Antiques Roadshow appraiser Mike Gutierrez of Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas recalls one prime example that turned up in Reno, Nev., in 2005. A woman brought in a remarkable find, he says: an entire full-sized space capsule. "It was from the late 1950s, when the early space agency was testing what could be done to send a man into space," he recalls.
