Speed confirmed
The Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One team confirmed that American driver Scott Speed will partner with Vitantonio Liuzzi again this year, Speed's second F1 season. The team did not announce terms of the agreement.
Brawn could be boss
Ross Brawn, Ferrari's former Formula One technical director, said he will not return to the team in that capacity. Brawn is on sabbatical this season but said he might take over as team boss when principal Jean Todt relinquishes the role. "It is an option. If I was to return to Ferrari, I would certainly be looking for a new challenge,'' Brawn told Auto Motor und Sport.
Verstappen stops Champ Car talks
Dutch former F1 driver Jos Verstappen has ceased his negotiations with Champ Car teams, believed to be Forsythe Racing and Minardi Team USA (Competition, Jan. 1). Verstappen, who remains popular in the Netherlands, was attracted to Champ Car in part because the series will visit the Assen circuit in Holland this season. "It's very hard to find a seat if you want to be paid for your work. There's interest from a couple of teams, but nobody is making a deal. . . . It's a pity, because Assen would have been sold out in no time,'' Verstappen said, referring to his own popularity.
