Cut O&M costs by using built-in electronics smarts.(gas industries reducing operating costs )

Over the last few years, gas companies have purchased many new electronic volume correctors and modern electronic proving systems for meters. Many of these have communication capabilities and the "smarts" that allow the companies to reduce operations and maintenance costs. These savings come from reduced labor when working with the meter and correctors, reduced meter prover and corrector setup time, and reduced prover run time when testing the meter and corrector.

One opportunity is the ability to reduce prover test and calibration time of meters and their gas volume correctors. The savings become even more apparent when both meter and corrector can be proved or tested at the same time without disassembly. Testing the two as a system applies both to traditional correctors bolted to a meter universal instrument drive and to correctors that are an integral part of the meter.
