They say young love is sweet, but these days, it seems more and more marriages entered into at a tender age are souring--at least in Hollywood. Couples who have called it quits recently: Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray (she said "I do" at 22), Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson (they tied the knot when she was 21), Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe (she was 23), and Britney Spears and Kevin Federline (she was 22 when they married).
And guess what: Nonfamous couples don't fare any better. According to file National Marriage Project, your risk of getting divorced decreases by 24 percent if you get hitched after age 24. The likely reason: People who marry before the quarter-century mark haven't yet discovered what truly fulfills them. "The 20s are characterized by a lot of change--you figure out what you want to do with your life, get to know yourself, and figure out through introspection and growth what kind of guy makes you happy," says psychologist Janice Bennett, PhD.
