Feb. 28--Richmond International Airport's most dangerous traffic intersection is slated for extinction. By unanimous vote, the Capital Region Airport yesterday awarded a $13.31 million construction contract to Branch Highways Inc. of Roanoke, the low bidder of five firms. The road-building project is expected to start by May and last a year and a half -- with completion possible by late 2008. It will separate traffic traveling north and south on Airport Drive, including the notorious intersection near the airport's parking toll plaza.
