Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) activist, Thotologolo Moruti has been sent to prison for nine months for theft.

Chief Magistrate Kenneth Obeng sent Moruti (52) to prison after hearing his mitigation, which Obeng said indicated that Moruti was an intelligent man.

"I have been moved by your mitigation. It shows how intelligent and educated you are. It is a shame that your intelligence led you to commit this offence," he said. Obeng said that by committing the offence, the accused lost trust from the bank.
