Feb. 25--Three local food establishments failed their county health inspections last month, with one of them failing a follow-up inspection before all three passed reinspection and had their regular licenses restored. Inn Suites Hotel, 475 N. Granada Ave., Don Betos, 1501 W. St. Mary's Road, and Riquisima, 7115 E. 22nd St. all racked up enough critical violations in food safety or cleanliness to cause health inspectors to issue provisional licenses. Inspectors classified nine other establishments as needing improvement. Inn Suites Hotel A Jan. 23 inspection at the hotel found food at improper temperatures and employees washing their hands in two-compartment food-preparation sinks when there was food in one compartment. The inspector ordered that at least three handwashing sinks be installed near the dishwashing and food preparation areas within 10 days. Raw eggs were found stored above ready-to-eat tortillas, and the slicer had dried food on it, according to the report. The inspector found a container of cottage cheese that expired last October, and parts of the ceiling in the main kitchen had caved in. The hotel failed a Feb. 2 follow-up but passed on Feb. 9.
