Feb. 24--When educators, parents and students work together, a school community can prosper. That's the consensus among educators at the helm of several North Texas schools honored for consistent distinguished performance. "It just really takes a village and we really have that," said Kay Gammon, principal of the Keller district's Parkview Elementary School, which was among 129 schools recently recognized by the Texas Education Agency. "They showed consistency in their programs," said DeEtta Culbertson, spokeswoman for the TEA. The schools, serving a large portion of low-income students, had to meet certain state and No Child Left Behind standards for the last three school years.
