According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 122nd annual meeting of the American Public Health Association, held October 30 - November 3, 1994, in Washington, DC, "Tuberculosis can spread rapidly among AIDS patients residing in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels. A project begun in 1993 is attempting to place every AIDS patient residing in an SRO with active tuberculosis or tuberculosis infection on Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) or Directly Observed Preventive Therapy (DOPT) SRO hotels were selected on the basis of the number of known TB patients and the level of cooperation from hotel management.
