Feb. 23--NORFOLK -- Booming economic development and a shortage of students have prompted officials to look into the possibility of closing Oakwood Elementary School. "The jury is still out," Superintendent Stephen C. Jones told School Board members Wednesday. "We need the city to know we're looking at possibilities." Oakwood's capacity is about 440 students, and enrollment has hovered at 287 or lower in the last six years, according to a report presented to the board. Currently, 283 students, in prekindergarten through fifth grade, attend the school.
