THIS, honestly, is one of the most enjoyable Dopod devices to use. It is not the most revolutionary device manufactured by Taiwanese firm HTC Innovation, but it is one of the most innovative of personal digital assistant (PDA) phones from the Dopod stable.

The main attraction? The M700's "iPodish" click-scroll wheel for navigation and the blue glowing trackball button. Yes, the PDA finally has a bona fide mouse pointer as well! As far as the other specifications are concerned, they are quite modest. For example, the Texas Instruments OMAP processor that runs at 200 megahertz can hardly compete with the faster Intel ones.

But connectivity is excellent. The built-in Wi-Fi capability saves a lot of money when sending out e-mail and browsing at hotspots. Otherwise, there's always enhanced data rates for global evolution (EDGE) or general packet radio service (GPRS) connectivity. And all …
