Feb. 18--The Lincoln County school board may have acted too fast when it passed a policy to handle the redefined Gaston-Lincoln boundary line.
In December, the board decided that Lincoln County students whose families found out their homes are actually in Gaston County would be allowed to stay in Lincoln's schools without paying out-of-county tuition. But Lincoln County wasn't planning to accept any new students from these households.
Then, a week later, the Lincoln County commissioners rejected the updated line by a 3-2 vote after Gaston commissioners adopted it.
