Moscow, 16 February: Russia's chief public health officer and Rospotrebnadzor [consumer watchdog] head Gennadiy Onishchenko has confirmed bird flu as the cause of death of birds in Moscow Region's Domodedovskiy District. "It hasn't been confirmed that the virus is pathogenic in people [as received]. Vets have identified the strain as H5N1," Onishchenko told RIA-Novosti on Friday [16 February].
