The future of about 163 employees of Pakistan Cotton Standardisation Institute (PCSI) is becoming bleak with every passing day, as further funding of the institute is uncertain. PCSI, which is supposed to run on self-finance basis, depending on fee charged for testing of cotton, yields too less for its survival.

As textile industry is already passing through a crisis, it has lost its competitive edge in the international market. Government, while considering for facilitating the sector, is also looking forward to improve the quality of cotton and remove various other factors hindering the value-addition …
