If you can't get to a hospital or doctor's office to obtain the services of a health care provider, you may be able to have a health care provider come to you.

Home health care is the most rapidly growing part of the American health care system today.

This growth is partly due to an increased effort to reduce the costs of long term hospitalization.

More and more treatment procedures for ongoing health problems, such as wound care or intravenous therapy, can now be provided in a non-hospital setting.

You can be discharged from the hospital after medical treatment or surgery much earlier, then obtain follow-up care and instruction at home.

This not only cuts your hospitalization costs, but can help make your recovery or lifestyle adapation process much more comfortable.

The growth in home health care is also due to the increased need for specialized care and instruction, such as in learning diabetes management tasks, foot care techniques, prenatal care, even how to deal with cancer.
