Ray Evernham Motorsports now uses robots to help build its cars. The no-tolerance chassis rules for the Car of Tomorrow encouraged Evernham to buy robots for welding, thus freeing up "regular'' mechanics and builders to concentrate on other duties.

Roger Penske wants to build a test track on his property in Mooresville, N.C. He has 70 acres behind the facility, where his people build and maintain NASCAR, Indy Racing League and American Le Mans Series cars. "I'd like an oval-bigger than a half-mile-with a skidpad and a road course intermingled within the oval,'' Penske said recently.
