Amid the hoopla surrounding all the auto shows and auctions at this time of year, two top-notch diecast manufacturers are rolling out significant hardware of their own. Both Danbury Mint and CMC Classical Models have produced models of automotive icons that were sensations in their day.
Danbury is celebrating the 50th anniversary of two of 1957's most sensational debutantes: the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible and the Ford Thunderbird.
Spectacularly detailed in 1/24 scale, these cars represent classic Detroit iron of a half-century ago that still turns heads today. The Cadillac, finished in Dusty Rose Poly, is a fiesta of mid-'50s opulence, while the Thunderbird shows a more restrained statement in Dusk Rose. Both models capture the essence of their full-size production counterparts. The Cadillac is available now for $125; the T-Bird is due out at the end of the month for $140.
