OPTIMISM is growing among business leaders in Uganda that the country's economic climate will continue improving this year.

A survey conducted towards the end of last year shows the business community in an upbeat mood with investors generally believing that the economic environment improved tremendously in 2006 and that things could only get better this year.

The Business Leaders Confidence Index thus rose by 13 points to 57 per cent in December 2006, from 44 per cent in May of the same year when a similar survey was conducted.

The survey was conducted by the Steadman Group, a market research company. A total of 534 business leaders took part.
