Mindanao companies to lead efforts to start meat exportation.

Two meat processing facilities in Mindanao are gearing up to jump- start the country's first export bid of fresh meat by midyear.

"We are FMD [foot and mouth disease]-free and the Department of Agriculture's [DA] thrust is to maximize this potential this year," Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap told reporters in Malacanang yesterday.

The (Hog Export Board) and the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) are helping Davao-based Nenita Quality Foods Corp. and Polomolok, South Cotabato-based Matutum Meat Packing Corp. to prepare to export fresh frozen cut-up pork parts to Singapore …
