Comelec allows 44 party-list groups to join May polls.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday released a lineup of accredited party-list groups that can participate in the May 14 congressional elections.

In a 34-page resolution, the Comelec en banc has allowed 44 groups and organizations, considered marginalized and can represent an interest group. The Comelec has received a total of 153 applications, some of which are still being assessed.

Meanwhile, Josslyn de Mesa of the Comelec's law department said they are reviewing the candidacies of Oliver Lozano, Melchor Chavez and six others as possible …
