Feb. 14--West Charlotte High students and parents brought their own vision of school reform to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board Tuesday.
Superintendent Peter Gorman's staff shake-up, intended to get better teachers into the struggling school, is instead abandoning students to weak substitutes, some said. "The good teachers are leaving in fear of losing their jobs," said senior Amber May. "This all seems like someone else walking out of our lives."
